Description | A difficult impression to identify as Haden produced so many prints from this plate. It was a rare excursion into ‘reproductive printmaking’ for Haden. Simply put, this is a process where the etcher copies from an original work (usually a painting by another artist) rather than producing an original scene themselves. The source for the image was J.M.W. Turner’s painting Calais Pier, 1803 (National Gallery, London). Early prints were pulled by Frederick Goulding. |
