Description The original painting (A View of Glasgow Cathedral, c.1840) by John A. Houston (1802-1884) is in Glasgow Museum’s Collection. Houston was born in Dalkeith and, following a tour of Europe, settled in Edinburgh in 1841 where he established a reputation as a landscape and figurative painter. In 1858 he moved to London. He was a regular exhibitor at the Royal Academy and the Royal Scottish Academy
