Macbeth was the son of the painter Norman Macbeth and brother of Henry Macbeth-Raeburn. He was trained in Edinburgh but moved to London in 1870. He worked for The Graphic and exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy from 1870 onwards. He became an Associate of Academy in 1883. His studio was in Tite Street, Chelsea. He was one of the first Fellows elected (31 July 1880) of Haden’s Society of Painter-Etchers. His membership ceased on 14 May 1885. |
